Brilliant Ads From AT&T

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

To emphasize their “best coverage worldwide” claim, AT&T developed a series of amazing ads showing just hands and a phone. I guess they’ve been around for a while, but I hadn’t seen them until the other day, when someone sent me an email with several of them.

Here’s a Google Groups link where you can see them all. (EDIT: Whoops, that link may not work unless you’re a member of Google Groups; try this Artooz link.) A comment on the thread informs us that Guido Daniele is the artist behind the images — and if you go to his site, you’ll see plenty more images at least as remarkable as the AT&T ads.

RUBotted

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Every once in a while (last July, for example) I post about some of the superb free services out there that help you run a clean and trouble-free computer without having to bloat your system with software from McAfee or Norton.

I have a new recommendation to add to the list: RUBotted. All you need to do is run a search on “botnets” or “zombie computers” to see the problems that exist. It’s likely that someone you know — maybe you — is working on a computer that’s part of a botnet without realizing it.

RUBotted helps you realize it. It’s free, it’s fast, it’s safe and it’s worth downloading and adding to your protection suite … and that green checkmark makes you feel better about hearing your hard drive grind away, knowing it’s working on something other than sending spam for someone thousands of miles away.

Mad Men Jib Jab

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Over here you can see a montage of clips that serve as a pretty good refresher to get ready for the new season of Mad Men that begins later this month. Roger looks a little too much like John Larroquette, so you might want to take advantage of Jib Jab’s ability to let you replace the face of one of the Mad Men actors with yours.
