I’m Pretty Sure This Is Illegal

The other day I called up my mortgage company and asked for a copy of a specific document relating to my account. They said they could fax it to me. So far so good. Then, when I receive the fax, I also receive the Nutrisystem ad above.

Now, I’m no legal expert, but I used to work for a company that got slammed for $1.5 million for junk faxing. I have to think this is a bad idea, and that Nutrisystem (and my mortgage company) are on pretty shaky ground here.

Gutsy Move

There’s a ban on all Pom Wonderful products in my household for reasons I really don’t want to get into here. Suffice to say my blood begins to boil even when I see a bottle of Fiji water (which the company that produces Pom also produces). However, I gotta salute the company for a gutsy advertising campaign: After being slapped by the FTC for health claims in their ads, Pom is using FTC quotes in their ads that effectively amount to health claims. AdAge reports.
