If You’re Gonna Do It, Do It Right

Tuesday, June 5th, 2012

That’s a good maxim for life in general, but when it comes to online customer service via Twitter, only Zappo’s and L.L. Bean are doing it right. A few other top 25 retailers come close, but more than half of all customer service tweets are being ignored. That’s just not okay. Destination CRM reports.

Bad Social Media

How ‘Bout That Facebook Stock?

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

$25 billion lost by investors already, according to the Washington Post, with more likely to come. HuffPo has a piece entitled, 5 Types Of People You Should Never Friend On Facebook. Seems to me people don’t really care all that much who they friend: As I post this, the article (posted yesterday) has just 214 comments, while a “story” about Justin Bieber’s fight with papparazzi (also posted yesterday) has 1,352 comments. Still and all, the Facebook article has a few bits of good advice that make sense not only for Facebook, but for LinkedIn, Twitter, or any social network, including: Don’t friend your boss and don’t friend people you don’t know. Duh.

Politics and Pinterest

Sunday, May 27th, 2012

I never really thought about the intersection of Pinterest and politics, but Shrita Sterlin over on Ragan’s PR Daily has. For the record, here’s the President’s Pinterest page and here’s a fake Obama Pinterest page. I have to say, I like the fake Obama’s page better.
